Garnet is the January birthstone, and I specialize in garnet. So
here comes classic Rhodolite, the first in my January Garnet
Gala. It's only one of the many garnet colors available to
January's Child. This 2.98 ct. Tanzanian stone displays the
lovely purplish-to-violet red that defines the variety. The
custom opposed-bar cut offers a cascade of colored reflections to the
eye as the stone moves. It's eye clean and measures
slightly over 9 x 7 mm.
(Technical note: Rhodolite garnets are never heated to improve color or
treated in any other way. They are just as nature made them.)
