Too cute laney! I love those smooth fondant wedding cakes where you can get all creative. We couldn't have one in Kauai because the gal said that it melted too easily! So we did old fashioned smooth buttercream but it was good!

Funny - we had fondant outside the whole reception (it was on the beach - in the sand)... I was more worried that we would have bugs in it.

Notice my Mom's contribution of the cake topper (located front right..) :)

Really awesome cake--modern and different yet the fondant grounds it in a classic style.... As far as heat, that's news to me...I have had very good experiences with fondant cakes at several 90+ degree outdoor weddings--always so beautiful. I was lucky to get married in December so i didn't have to worry...mine was simple white with little green flowers but the fondant just made it! It's very expensive compared to regular cakes but sooo worth it...Intell all my friends who are debating it that they MUST have fondant! That and a band are my two wedding "musts"...I wish I had known you can do this type of style--I might have been brave enough to get a fabu cake like yours! You just have to have fondant!

I really wanted fondant, but when she said in her experience it didn't hold up well I said fine. It's just a cake. ;) Also I kind of felt like fondant was appropriate for a local wedding but in Hawaii it just didn't necessarily FIT. To top it off, I'd also had fondant in the past and it's somewhat tasteless though it looks AWESOME. So that is how I consoled myself..and the buttercream cake lasted in the heat and tasted divine!

I LOVE this cake. It's exactly what I want, colorful and fun. ? though, how does fondant taste? I've mixed reviews.

Laney, your cake was beautiful! Your DH did a great job.
